Itinerary
Explore the Cu Chi Tunnels!

Your private, English-speaking guide will be waiting for you at your port to greet you with a welcome sign and a big smile. Get comfortable in your air-conditioned transport as we make our way to our first stop – the impressive labyrinth of war tunnels, also known as the Cu Chi Tunnels. Experience how Viet Cong fighters used ingenious techniques to remain safe during the war, and even opt to walk through the tunnels yourself to witness the impressive network, including the secret underground kitchen. The tunnels are a fascinating insight into the creative spirit and endurance of the Viet Cong during the war.

Visit a Local Family Home

Next, we’ll head off the beaten track to a nearby household to get a taste for a local, more traditional way of life. The homeowner is a very friendly woman who welcomes Maika travellers to her home to show them a slice of the real Vietnam. Watch as she makes rice paper, and try the technique for yourself. Vietnam is the third-biggest producer of natural rubber in the world, and this stop allows you the emblematic experience of witnessing the removal of latex from inside a rubber tree. After the local family visit, we will drive to HCMC for a tasty, simple lunch (included) such as famous Pho or Banh Mi to fuel up before seeing the city highlights.

Although some scenes are upsetting, this museum offers a fantastic insight into the perseverance and determination of the Vietnamese. You will be guaranteed to leave with a newfound appreciation of this stunning and storied country.
