Our family or two adults and three kids enjoyed our terrific guide named “Tan” for both our one day tours out of HCMC
Tan was a wealth of information and had a great sense of humour. He took the time to drop us to the airport when we needed to catch a plane after our tour. The company was easy to communicate with to book the tour and were on time etc. I highly recommend this company and especially our guide Tan, thanks for making our visit to Vietnam wonderful

Itinerary
Let’s Go!
We will collect you from your accommodation and set off through the vibrant, chaotic streets of Ho Chi Minh City. Our expert guide will regale you with fascinating tales of Vietnam’s tumultuous political history, setting the stage for your underground exploration. On the way, we will make a short stop at a local rubber plantation before continuing to the tunnels.
First Introduction to the Tunnels
Upon arrival at Ben Dinh Tunnels, enter into the old base of the Viet Cong. You will be surrounded by a lush forest, dappled with sunlight filtering through majestic trees and swaying bamboo.
Get ready to be astounded by the mysterious traps and the touching stories showcasing incredible resourcefulness of the Viet Cong. From camouflaged entrances to deadly traps, experience the Viet Cong’s ingenious survival tactics firsthand.
Explore the Intricate Maze of Tunnels
Immerse yourself in the extraordinary experience of descending into the Cu Chi Tunnels(opens in a new tab). These underground passageways were originally designed to accommodate the slender frames of the Viet Cong soldiers. While the tunnels have been slightly widened for educational purposes, you will still feel the claustrophobic atmosphere as navigating through this subterranean labyrinth.
To complete your Cu Chi Tunnels adventure, discover the ingenious hidden kitchens that once provided sustenance to the Viet Cong and sample some authentic Viet Cong cuisine. For an added thrill, you will also have the opportunity to try your hand at shooting iconic weapons like AK-47s and bazookas (at an extra cost).
Row Through the Mekong Delta
After exploring the tunnels, we will drive to My Tho. Board a private boat for a cruise to enjoy peaceful scenery of the Mekong Delta(opens in a new tab). You will pass along Long (Dragon), Lan (Qilin), Quy (Turtle), and Phung (Phoenix) Islands.
On the way, there will be visits to the fish raft village and floating fish market(opens in a new tab), followed by a short stop at Uncle Nam Chanh’s garden to enjoy fruit and Southern folk music. Next, walk to the beekeeping garden and savour the taste of honey directly in the honeycombs raised by local people. Also, admire the orchid and rose growing area nearby.
Lose Yourself in the Beauty of Coconut Island
Uncover the enchanting world of coconut candy at a coconut candy factory in Tan Thach and taste this local specialty. Next, travel by Xe Lam (Lambro-style vehicle), meandering along the village road beneath the shade of coconut trees, all the way to the Vuon Dau Restaurant. Cross the monkey bridge to the restaurant for a lunch of local delicacies.
As the tour comes to a close, you will glide back to the larger boat in a rowing boat to set sail for the dock. Once we arrive, you will be transported safely back to your hotel in a private vehicle.
See What Our Guests are Saying
I am a happy returning customer to Maika tours, the 2 times I have visited Saigon and Vietnam I have used them. This January we did a full day tour of cu chi tunnels and the Mekong delta due to time constraints. The positive things with Maika tours is smooth booking, on time pick-up, private car, good safe driver, excellent tour guide and they plan the trip so you don’t have to wait in line with other tourists. Our Gide was Long, excellent guide, English level and friendly!
We want to thank Giang and Mr Sim for giving this tour of Cu Chi Tunnel, I have actually been here before on another Tour. But going with Mr Sim gave so much additional information and insight that I really enjoyed this more than when I went previously. Mr Sim is genuinely interested in the history and gave so much respect to former veterans.
I was go to Vietnam with a friend who last minute was unable to go, so I went alone with fingers crossed. But no worries because Giang and his team including Tien in Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta and Charlie in Central Vietnam, including Hoi An and Hue made it a spectacular experience.
From the busy, light filled streets of Saigon to the busy river “road” of the Mekong River carrying rice, produce and materials to market, to the charming communities of Hoi An and Hue, I felt immersed in this amazing world. All due to this caring amazing team. And, yup, they know where the good food is.
I now refer my friends, family and colleagues, as well as book all of my tours, accommodation and flights with Maika because I feel very lucky to have finally found an organisation in Asia that gives me the confidence to do so.
The tour was very well organized, and the guide spoke very good English. We got to see and experience so many things: Besides visiting a pagoda and Buddha statue, we also went on a boat ride (with a stop to enjoy a coconut drink) and visited local businesses producing rice paper, conical hats and mats. We had fresh fruit and tea for a snack and Pho soup for lunch which was delicious! We had such a good day and would highly recommend this tour!
We went on this tour, two families of four, with children aged 9-12 years old. We were really happy with it and highly recommend. Lin was our guide and she was fantastic, would really do a trip with her again. It was nice to do this privately and easy to adjust with Lin if needed. Maika helped us book the accommodation in Can Tho which we really appreciated. Would highly recommend and for sure do again.
You did a great job looking after all of our family of 7. The kids enjoyed all the tours and especially the Mekong cruise …as did we……because the kids were so happy we got to enjoy some time to ourselves too. I would recommend Maika Tours if your thinking of visiting Vietnam!
Such a great experience; learning all about the history and climbing through the tunnels. The guide was so wonderful, he answered all of our questions in such detail and made sure we had a good time.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour!! The guide was amazing, fun and full of knowledge about the tunnels and the history of Vietnam! He also went out of his way to make sure we got back to our hotel and dropped some of us off at places we wanted to go next. 110% recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the history and wanting to learn more
