Central Highlands

Bao Loc Tea Plantation

La Nga River

Datanla Waterfalls

Experience Vietnamese Highlands!

Road trip time! Our destination today is Da Lat in the Central Highlands.
We’ll be on the road for a total of 7 to 8 hours and, of course, make various fun and interesting stops along the way. We’ll leave HCMC via Thu Thiem Tunnel, which takes us under Saigon river and onto the smooth direct road to Da Lat. It’s a beautifully scenic drive.

Our first stop will be the La Nga River and the floating fish farm. Here we can hop in a rowboat and see firsthand how local fishermen use traditional methods to produce a huge variety of native river fish.

Come lunchtime, we’ll make a stop in Bao Loc where we can stretch our legs, enjoy the fresh air, and refuel with a delicious lunch served at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we will visit one of the vast tea plantations that Bao Loc is famous for. Have your cameras ready to capture the beauty and tranquillity of the green fields as they are gently hand-cultivated by expert tea pickers in traditional conical hats!

Continuing our scenic drive we’ll soon arrive at cool, fresh Da Lat. What better way to celebrate our arrival than by visiting the famous Datanla Waterfalls where we can take in the clean, crisp highland air and beautiful surrounding forest! We’ll have some fun and take a mini roller coaster down through the pine forests surrounded by wildflowers — a great way to refresh and recharge after our long drive.

When we’re ready, we’ll venture into Da Lat town, also known as the ‘City of Eternal Spring’ surrounded by hills and pine forests and dotted with elegant French-colonial villas mixed with newer, uniquely styled Vietnamese buildings and attractions too. We’ll drop you off at your accommodation where you can rest and enjoy the evening.

Truc Lam Zen Monastery

Crazy House

Linh Phuoc Pagoda

Panoramic View & Stunning Nature Await

Today we’ll continue reaching for the sky! After breakfast, we’ll ascend in our private transport all the way up to Da Lat’s famous cable car station. From this high point, we’ll get settled in a cable car and begin a fabulous descent over Da Lat city and Tuyen Lam lake. We’ll drink in the panoramic views, all ornately surrounded by tall pine trees and colourful wildflowers. Make sure to have your camera ready to capture these amazing vistas!

The cable cars will drop us at our first stop, Truc Lam Zen Monastery – the biggest in Vietnam. This peaceful Buddhist temple is surrounded by yet more beautiful flowers and carefully tended bonsai trees. Here we can enjoy a truly zen moment while listening to wild bird songs and taking a leisurely stroll around the temple.

Next, we’ll enjoy a change of scenery and visit the summer house of King Bao Dai; the final emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty. Built in the 1930s, the house is a fantastic representation of French Art Deco style, with a Vietnamese twist, of course. We’ll go inside and enjoy a glimpse into how daily life was for this holidaying king!

The remainder of the day will be filled with other must-see attractions of Da Lat, including the Crazy House built by Vietnamese architect Dang Viet Nga, which looks like something straight off the pages of a fairy tale! We’ll also visit the adorable and uniquely designed train station and Da Lat day markets where you can shop ’til you drop or grab a refreshing drink and simply watch the crowds.

As the day draws to a close, we’ll catch the sunset at Linh Phuoc Pagoda, famous for the huge dragon guarding its doorway. Here we can marvel at the temple’s impressive decor and huge statues — yet another photo hotspot!

Mui Ne Beach

Sand Dunes, Coffee Plantations & Pool Time!

After a tasty breakfast, we’ll get on the road and start our journey towards the coast to Mui Ne. We’ll cruise along Highway 20B from Da Lat to our first stop, one of the famous Duc Trong coffee plantations. It’s a little-known fact that Vietnam is the world’s second-largest exporter of coffee, so it’s only natural that we visit one of these impressive plantations to learn all about the area’s unique microclimate and the fascinating cultivation process and hard work that goes into producing this essential morning elixir!

Our next stop is Lotus Lake, home to the magnificent white sand dunes. This wide area of open space and tall, majestic sand dunes is perfect for photographing, so have your camera ready! There are tons of fun activities we can do at the dunes, including a jeep tour, quad bikes, and even sand surfing! Alternatively, we can get back on the road to make good time for beach and pool activities. Once we arrive in Mui Ne town, we can head out for a nice lunch before enjoying the rest of the day poolside or strolling the beach — the choice is yours.

Ho Chi Minh City

Departure Day

This morning we’ll ease into the day with a late check out at 12 pm, then head out for lunch before hitting the road back to Ho Chi Minh City (taking between 4 and 5 hours), completing our round trip.

To break up today’s mileage, we’ll make refreshment and photo stops throughout Phan Thiet City including Le Hong Phong Bridge and the iconic Phan Thiet Water Tower; designed by the prince of Laos who was also the chief engineer for the Vietnamese government.

Further, into our journey, we’ll visit one of the many dragon fruit farms the area is famous for. Here we can learn about this unusual, tropical fruit and sample some from the recent harvest. You’ll easily spot the fruit by its bright pink flesh and enjoy its subtle, refreshing flavour.

Tạm biệt! Goodbye! Sadly it’s now departure time. Your trusty guide will help you with your bags and make sure you arrive at the airport in good time. Whether you’re heading home or onto the next leg of your adventure, we’ll wish you the best of luck and have no doubt that you’ll be leaving with great memories of your Maika Tour!
