Itinerary
The Sun Shines Upon Arrival in the Land of Smiles

Thai women in traditional costumes

Thailand is called ‘The Land of Smiles’ for a good reason. Their friendliness and hospitality contribute to the country’s charm. Right after you step off your cruise ship at Laem Chabang Port, you will be warmly welcomed with a smile from your local English-speaking guide. We will then head to the city centre of Bangkok, with a travel time of approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.

The first stop of the tour is Wat Pho, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Wat Pho existed even before Bangkok officially became the capital of Thailand, back when the capital was Ayutthaya. Your guide will share fascinating insights into the history and significance of key sites you encounter as you walk.

Cruise Along the Canals of Thonburi

Chao Phraya River in Bangkok

As in many other Southeast Asian countries, the water-based culture has shaped unique ways of life and traditions in Thailand. You will embark on a longtail boat ride along the canals to see unique floating markets, where locals trade goods from their boats. There are also traditional houses on stilts – an initiative to combat floods during the monsoon seasons.

On the way, we will pass Wat Arun, one of the most spectacular landmarks in the heart of Bangkok. Wat Arun is an architectural gem that carries profound meanings in little sculptures and adornments. As you climb to the top of its central towering spire, you will see the magnificent views of the Chao Phraya River below.

After the temple visits, continue your cruise to The Maharaj pier and enjoy a typical Thai lunch at a local riverfront restaurant.

Admire the Architectural Magnificence of the Grand Palace

the Grand Palace of Bangkok

Next off, venture into the soul of Bangkok – the Grand Palace arguably one of the most visited spots in Thailand. You will spend a significant amount of time here as the complex boasts so many impressive statues, murals, and temples, including the Emerald Buddha Temple to explore. For stunning architectural shots to remember, have your camera ready to capture the dazzling golden chedis, striking statues, and temples adorned with vibrant pieces of coloured glass.

If time permits, we will stop at Wat Traimit to take in the splendour of the world’s largest solid Golden Buddha statue. Wat Traimit perfectly represents classical Thai Buddhist culture, and you can contemplate a lot with this short visit. This option will cost an additional charge of $5.

Immerse Yourself in the Lively Atmosphere of the Chinatown

Bangkok's Chinatown at night

As the day ends, we will stroll along the artery streets of Bangkok’s Chinatown. Enjoy the local culinary delights, including dim sum, oyster omelette, Thai flat noodles, and seafood, to name just a few. The street walking tour also offers a variety of fruits and ice creams for those with a sweet tooth.

Before ending the tour, find some more extra fun at Asiatique The Riverfront, a large open-air mall with over 1,500 shops, 40 restaurants, and street stalls. The highlight is the newly opened Big C Foodplace Asiatique, a paradise for food lovers. You can shop for lovely handmade items here or indulge in some light snacks to delight your taste buds before we journey back to Laem Chabang Port.
