Itinerary
Marvel at the Great Buddha of Phuket
On this sightseeing tour, you will tour around Koh Samui and truly feel the island’s liveliness. Koh Samui is Thailand’s second-largest island after Phuket, a tropical paradise brimming with endless opportunities for fun and relaxation. You will visit Big Buddha or the Great Buddha of Phuket, a seated marble Buddha statue on Nakkerd Hill. The statue is arguably the island’s most iconic landmark and a symbol of peace and spirituality. If you are looking for photo spots on the island, there’s no place better than the base of the Big Buddha. You will also learn more about the regional religious scene while observing locals offer flowers, incense, and candles in the serene and spiritual atmosphere.
Explore the Serene Beauty of Wat Plai Laem
Stop at Wat Plai Laem, a peaceful Buddhist Temple ideal for contemplating the world. This complex offers a mix of Chinese and Thai architectural styles, with its centrepiece being the striking 18-arm statue of Goddess Guanyin. In Chinese Buddhism, Guan Yin is a deity of mercy, compassion, kindness, and love. Besides, you will see statues of Hindu Gods like Vishnu, Shiva, and Ganesh.
Next off, we will take in stunning views from a vantage point overlooking Chaweng Beach. Chaweng Beach is the most popular beach in Koh Samui and stretches for over 6 km along the island’s east coast. You will be enchanted by its amazing beachside beauty and a wide variety of activities.
Admire the Intriguing Formations of Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks
The unique rock formations will be your next stop. Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks, also known as the Grandfather and Grandmother rocks, are famous for their unusual shapes that humorously resemble male and female genitalia. It is quite the sight and certainly made for some fun photos!
Later, we will spend some time at Wat Khunaram, a quirky sight that offers a unique insight into Buddhist and Thai culture. The temple features the mummified remains of a monk in a seated meditative position on display in an upright glass case. The simplicity of the architecture adds to the tranquility of the temple and definitely sparks your curiosity about the mummified monk wearing sunglasses.
Hear the Roar of Na Mueang Waterfall
The last stop of the day will be Na Mueang Waterfall. The waterfall is absolutely spectacular with water plummeting down into a large pool. Rocks and tree roots form a natural staircase leading directly to a spacious pool at the base of the waterfall. At this waterfall, you can bathe, hike, or simply explore the cool and peaceful atmosphere.
At the end of the tour, we will drive you back to the cruise port to meet your ship in time for the scheduled departure. Don’t forget to say goodbye to your friendly tour guide and ask for additional travel tips.
See What Our Guests are Saying
I now refer my friends, family and colleagues, as well as book all of my tours, accommodation and flights with Maika because I feel very lucky to have finally found an organisation in Asia that gives me the confidence to do so.
The tour was very well organized, and the guide spoke very good English. We got to see and experience so many things: Besides visiting a pagoda and Buddha statue, we also went on a boat ride (with a stop to enjoy a coconut drink) and visited local businesses producing rice paper, conical hats and mats. We had fresh fruit and tea for a snack and Pho soup for lunch which was delicious! We had such a good day and would highly recommend this tour!
We went on this tour, two families of four, with children aged 9-12 years old. We were really happy with it and highly recommend. Lin was our guide and she was fantastic, would really do a trip with her again. It was nice to do this privately and easy to adjust with Lin if needed. Maika helped us book the accommodation in Can Tho which we really appreciated. Would highly recommend and for sure do again.
You did a great job looking after all of our family of 7. The kids enjoyed all the tours and especially the Mekong cruise …as did we……because the kids were so happy we got to enjoy some time to ourselves too. I would recommend Maika Tours if your thinking of visiting Vietnam!
