Itinerary
Angkor Wat Temple
We’ll start the day by picking you up at 8:00 from your hotel as we board a private air-conditioned transport to Angkor complex, where millions of people visit each year. We start our visit to Angkor at the main temple of Angkor Wat, one of the largest religious monuments in the world. Following your expert guide inside, you can witness and get to learn more about the meanings and the stories behind magnificent bas-reliefs carved on the walls surroundings.
Head North to Angkor Thom and Bayon Temple
From Angkor Wat, follow the main park road into Angkor Thom, passing through the South gate. You will visit Angkor Thom’s famous ruins of the Bayon Temple, the Terrace of the Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King, and Phimeanakas Temple.
Though this temple is full of visitors, it is big enough for you to find a quiet and cool place to explore on your own. Taking your time, admire up to two hundred serene smiling faces carved onto high towers and feel inner peace. You will enjoy a delicious Khmer set lunch at a local restaurant near Angkor temples.
Ta Prohm – the Temple in the Tomb Raider Movie
After lunch, we will continue our day by visiting Ta Prohm – a temple set in the midst of the jungle. Built over hundreds of years, Ta Prohm is now taken over by the jungle with gigantic trees overgrowing from the ruins. You can walk around to explore this secretive temple, feel its mysterious beauty and catch some great pictures of this strange architecture. This is the final stop of your day exploring Angkor complex.
It’s time to say goodbye to your guide and driver, so don’t forget to ask them for recommendations of activities and where to enjoy the outstanding local cuisine.
See What Our Guests are Saying
I now refer my friends, family and colleagues, as well as book all of my tours, accommodation and flights with Maika because I feel very lucky to have finally found an organisation in Asia that gives me the confidence to do so.
The tour was very well organized, and the guide spoke very good English. We got to see and experience so many things: Besides visiting a pagoda and Buddha statue, we also went on a boat ride (with a stop to enjoy a coconut drink) and visited local businesses producing rice paper, conical hats and mats. We had fresh fruit and tea for a snack and Pho soup for lunch which was delicious! We had such a good day and would highly recommend this tour!
We went on this tour, two families of four, with children aged 9-12 years old. We were really happy with it and highly recommend. Lin was our guide and she was fantastic, would really do a trip with her again. It was nice to do this privately and easy to adjust with Lin if needed. Maika helped us book the accommodation in Can Tho which we really appreciated. Would highly recommend and for sure do again.
You did a great job looking after all of our family of 7. The kids enjoyed all the tours and especially the Mekong cruise …as did we……because the kids were so happy we got to enjoy some time to ourselves too. I would recommend Maika Tours if your thinking of visiting Vietnam!
