Itinerary

the temple of golden Buddha

At Laem Chabang Port, you will be welcomed by an English-speaking guide who will be waiting for you at the dock. Set out on a 2.5-hour journey to Bangkok and get ready to immerse yourself in the bustling scene. Bangkok – a city rich in history and culture and a melting pot of contrasts – has tons of experiences to amaze you.

A visit to The Grand Palace is a great introduction to Thailand’s heritage heart, giving you valuable insights into Thai royalty. The famous 1782 palace will captivate your imagination with its splendid buildings and ornate detailing. Feel the haunt of the glorious past as you walk through the different structures and sculptures.

You will then savour a lunch of unique Thai cuisine. Next, embark on a long-tail boat ride along Thonburi canal to dive into the fascinating life along the riverbanks. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the special connection between Thai lifestyle and the waterways or “khlongs.” Pass by sacred temples, wooden houses on stilts, coconut palms, and local vendors selling goods straight from their boats.

Our next stop is the Royal Barges National Museum, home to the ornately decorated boats used in state ceremonies. These boats demonstrate the complex craftsmanship that has flourished in Thailand for generations. Alternatively, set out for Jim Thompson House, a wooden Thai-style house constructed in 1959, surrounded by a vast and lush garden. James H.W. Thompson made a fortune in the mid-20th century selling Thai silks. A visit to his former residence will tell you how he revitalised the near-dead Thai silk industry and became a wealthy man. You will also find a shop selling Jim Thompson silk clothes and products, an art centre, and a charming restaurant on the museum ground.

Next, proceed to Chinatown for a visit to the fabulous Temple of the Golden Buddha or Wat Traimit. The temple houses the world’s largest solid gold Buddha image, weighing some five and a half tons, and is most likely some 700 to 800 years old. Here, you can visit a museum showcasing the origins of the Golden Buddha – unveiling the fascinating tale of how it found its home at Wat Traimit.

Around 6 p.m. you will check in at your hotel and make the most of your free time to relax or discover more of the city at your own pace.

From 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. join a fascinating Bangkok food tour by tuk-tuk (extra charge) to discover the city’s vibrant nightlife and savour local cuisine. We will pick you up from your hotel and drop you off at a local restaurant for you to try amazing Thai flavours. After that, soak up the bustling atmosphere of Asiatique The Riverfront, a mix of night market stalls, restaurants, and entertainment. Feel free to do more shopping or treat yourself to some light snacks.

Wat Arun temple

Today, depart for Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) to marvel at its intricate architectural details and learn about its historical significance. The temple features a central prang with four large prangs decorated with demons, bells, and porcelain flowers. It is very soothing as you wander around hearing the bells ringing gently in the wind.

Continue your journey to Wat Pho to explore the grandeur of one of Bangkok’s largest and oldest temples, a revered landmark that continues to serve as a vital centre for Thai medicine and massage.

One more destination to visit before lunch – the Marble Temple, one of the architectural highlights of Bangkok’s Old Town. Walk around the structure to admire the intricate and colourful decoration of its white marble walls. If you’re looking for a change of pace, opt for a shopping tour at MBK Center instead of visiting the Marble Temple. Opened in 1986, the legendary MBK Center features over 2,000 shops selling everything from clothing, fashion accessories, handbags and luggage to furniture, mobile phones, and stationery. We will visit Craft Village Zone on the 6th Floor at MBK Center. This is an opportunity to shop for unique handmade items, perfect as souvenirs or gifts.

Your lunch will be served at a local Thai restaurant featuring delectable dishes. Then, we will journey back to Laem Chabang Port. We make sure you arrive at the port well ahead of your departure time. Don’t forget to ask your guide for any recommendations to inspire your next adventure.
