Our 3-day private Mekong Delta tour was an unforgettable experience! From the first moment we felt in good hands with our guide Tiến and our driver Đỗ. Tiến was incredibly accommodating, friendly and always impressed us with his extensive knowledge of the region and its history. He not only introduced us to the highlights of the Mekong Delta, but also told us a lot about the everyday lives of the people here.

Itinerary
You will be collected from your hotel at 7:30 am ready to begin our amazing adventure. Our first stop is the Cai Be Pier along the mighty Mekong River. Sit back and relax as our ‘sampan’ (a traditional motorised boat) takes you along the serene canals. These hidden waterways are engulfed in lush vegetation and local villages where you can admire the colours and culture alike.
Next up, we get back on the dry land of the Tan Phong island. After a quick stop off at a tasty fruit orchard, we will experience the enchanting music of Vietnam as guests of a local performance and take a guided bicycle tour of this marvellous island. Along the way, we will visit native families and learn how these locals use the land to craft everything from delicate rice paper to the sturdy roofs of their homes. A local family will treat us to Mekong delicacies for lunch which include freshly made spring rolls, fried pumpkin flower, and beautifully braised pork soaked in coconut juice
** We can provide accommodation for those with scooters**
After our special Mekong lunch, we’ll transfer back to our boat and into the smaller canals of the delta. Here we can get up close and be a part of the daily life of local people and farmers. We will see the handicraft of local merchants preparing delicious coconut candy, rice-wine, unique hand-crafted pottery, and bricks made from scratch. Then we’ll head to the Vinh Long Pier and market where you can see even more of the specialities the Mekong has to offer.
Finally, we will board the bus to drive to Chau Doc to reach your accommodation. Once we arrive we can head out for dinner at the marvellous night market or you can have some time to relax at your chosen hotel.
This morning we will check out early, ready for a scenic boat trip to visit the floating village, floating fish farm and the village of Cham ethnic people. We also do the boat ride on Vinh Te canal where you can see house-on-still on the two sides, and go deeper into the local living area.
Check out your hotel, we then get on our private bus to visit the impressive Ba Chua Xu temple set at the foot of the Sam Mountain. We then do a scenic drive to the amazing Tra Su Bird Sanctuary. At this peaceful, tranquil location we will pass through canals in the forest, to observe wading birds. Prepare to be dazzled by this enchanting place, filled with mossy green waterways lined with beautiful cajuput trees. Keep your eyes out for some of the amazing wildlife that abounds here including birds of paradise and storks.
After Tra Su, we will head to Can Tho for our overnight stay. Once we arrive here we will drive you to your chosen hotel. If you’re still energetic enough to see and do more, we’ll take a visit to a local night market!
On day three we’ll get up early and head straight out to make the most of the day. We’ll board our own private boat to head to Cai Rang, the biggest floating market in the whole of Asia. You will get to experience local produce being sold first-hand from boat to boat. You’ll get the chance to buy products of your own and you can even sip your morning coffee at one of the awesome floating coffee shops.
After the market, we will head back to the hotel for some well-deserved breakfast. Having checked out, we’ll head to My Tho to visit the breathtaking Vinh Trang pagoda. Here your guide will show you around the incredible five-acre site. After what promises to be an interesting and enjoyable day, we’ll head back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you back to your accommodation.

Excellent 3 day private Mekong Delta tour. All the activities were well organised and really interesting. Our guide was very friendly, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgable. He could answer any questions we had without hesitation. He was also very flexible if we wanted to deviate or rearrange the standard itinerary slightly.
Our lunch on the first day which was included in the tour was delicious. We had spring rolls, soup, fresh Mekong river fish and chicken curry. I wasn’t expecting much but it was a fantastic meal.
It was nice being able to book our own accommodation. Many of the tours include accommodation and you never know whether it’ll be nice or not and I presume you pay a premium on it.
Overall I would highly recommend this tour. For a private tour I think the price was more than worth it.
I am a happy returning customer to Maika tours, the 2 times I have visited Saigon and Vietnam I have used them. This January we did a full day tour of cu chi tunnels and the Mekong delta due to time constraints. The positive things with Maika tours is smooth booking, on time pick-up, private car, good safe driver, excellent tour guide and they plan the trip so you don’t have to wait in line with other tourists. Our Gide was Long, excellent guide, English level and friendly!
It was my first visit to Vietnam and one of my friend in UK , Sam Davis recommended me to get in touch with my cathodes I was travelling a backpacker in Vietnam then I got introduced to Mr Giang , he is sch a lovely and who person helped me out to plan my entire trip in Vietnam and he offered me lot of suggestions and recommendations and to find accommodation and what to see we enjoy and Ho Chi minh City he organised me a perfect one day me trip to Mekong RIver Delta & half a day Cui CHi tunnels tour .
The pickup was really prompt and the guide was really informative and he was smart interactive and he was enthusiastic and kept entertaining us thought our trip he kept explaining about the places and the information and facts about the history of Vietnam culture , history & heritage.
I would definitely recommend Maika Tours tour when you are in Vietnam you can just close your eyes and you can just entrust your travel responsibility and he is really cool person and he will take care of all your needs in ur Trip. Travel with Maika Tours in Vietnam,Cheers ..
Mr Giang organised an amazing day trip for our group in our own private coach & a very knowledgeable & witty guide! We arrived at Cai Be where we boarded our motorised boat to cruise along the river, stopping at a floating fruit boat to purchase local fruits. We were also served some delicious local fruits on the boat. We then stopped to see the local handicraft of local merchants preparing coconut candy & pop-rice – another wonderful experience We then changed to rowing boats to explore the secluded canals of the delta which was very interesting. We had a lovely lunch of Mekong delicacies at a family run restaurant. After lunch we headed back to our hotel in Saigon.
It was a memorable day & an amazing experience had by all in the group
Thank you to Mr Giang who did an amazing job organising this tour for us a reasonable price. He was easy to work with and very professional at all times.
We would highly recommend using Maika Tours to organise your tours if you are ever in Saigon!
Giang thank you so much for organising our Mekong Delta tour at such short notice. Our Airbnb host told us she would arrange, but at the last minute it became apparent that wasn’t going to happen.
We requested a public tour with Maika Tours at very short notice, this was booked up, but within minutes Giang was offering to help and arrange a private tour, this he did and in reality the cost difference wasn’t that huge.
Our guide was friendly, respectful and had an answer for all our questions, we cover a lot of area, ticked off all the things the tour briefly mentioned and then there was more, we met lots of locals, had local fruit and coconut drinks on the boat, all of which wasn’t mentioned, but a great bonus.
I traveled to Vietnam by myself and scheduled a full day private tour of Ho Chi Minh City with Maika Tours. Nam was my travel guide and did a great job showing me around, hitting all the main sites, while also taking me to non-touristy parts so I could get a more authentic experience. Nam was very professional and did his best to make sure that I was enjoying the tour. I enjoyed the tour so much that I decided to do another full day motorbike tour from HCM to the Mekong Delta with Nam the following day. That was also a great experience. I got a chance to see the country side while we stopped periodically along the way to take pics. Although I was a little nervous at first since I had never rode on a motorbike before, I was able to relax and enjoy the ride once we got out of the HCM City limits. All in all, it was another great day and I would highly recommend both tours.
A trip down to the Mekon Delta is a must for anyone staying around or in Saigon and definitely worthwhile traveling with this tour company. Our tour guide Tiger (who incidentally I used twice) is so knowledgeable and has a wealth of enthusiasm made the day for us both.
We both look forward to returning at some point in the future and will definitely be using this company again.
We highly recommend Maika Tours and our guide, Nam. He looked after us brilliantly from the moment he picked us from the airport in Saigon to the moment he dropped us off. His knowledge of the war/Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta was extensive and he clearly has a great rapport with and respect for the locals he deals with making it an even more authentic experience.
