A trip down to the Mekon Delta is a must for anyone staying around or in Saigon and definitely worthwhile traveling with this tour company. Our tour guide Tiger (who incidentally I used twice) is so knowledgeable and has a wealth of enthusiasm made the day for us both.
We both look forward to returning at some point in the future and will definitely be using this company again.

Itinerary
You will be collected from your hotel at 7:30 am ready to begin our amazing adventure. Our first stop is the Cai Be Pier along the mighty Mekong River. Sit back and relax as our ‘sampan’ (a traditional motorised boat) takes you along the serene canals. These hidden waterways are engulfed in lush vegetation and local villages where you can admire the colours and culture alike.
Next up, we get back on the dry land of the Tan Phong island. After a quick stop off at a tasty fruit orchard, we will experience the enchanting music of Vietnam as guests of a local performance and take a guided bicycle tour of this marvellous island. Along the way, we will visit native families and learn how these locals use the land to craft everything from delicate rice paper to the sturdy roofs of their homes. A local family will treat us to Mekong delicacies for lunch which include freshly made spring rolls, fried pumpkin flower, and beautifully braised pork soaked in coconut juice
** We can provide accommodation for those with scooters**
After our special Mekong lunch, we’ll transfer back to our boat and into the smaller canals of the delta. Here we can get up close and be a part of the daily life of local people and farmers. We will see the handicraft of local merchants preparing delicious coconut candy, rice-wine, unique hand-crafted pottery, and bricks made from scratch. Then we’ll head to the Vinh Long Pier and market where you can see even more of the specialities the Mekong has to offer.
Finally, we will head to Can Tho to reach your accommodation. We’ll have the chance to relax and explore the beautiful nightlife and tasty cuisine of the night market in this spectacular town during your overnight stay.
On day two, we’ll get up early and head straight out to make the most of the day. We’ll board our own private boat to head to Cai Rang, the biggest floating market in the whole of Asia. You will get to experience local produce being sold first hand from boat to boat. You’ll get the chance to buy products of your own and you can even sip your morning coffee at one of the awesome floating coffee shops.
After the market, we will head back to the hotel for some well-deserved breakfast. Having checked out, we’ll head to My Tho to visit the breathtaking Vinh Trang pagoda. Here your guide will show you around the incredible five-acre site. They will explain the history of the temple and show you the unique architecture and sculpture. After what promises to be an interesting and enjoyable day, we’ll head back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you back to your accommodation.

We booked two days with Maika tours. Both were private. One day was to Mekong delta and the other Cu Chi tunnels. We had well orgznised fully private two days. The guide was knowledgable and spoke good English. Everything was timed, and we ran smoothly through the itinerary. The best part in Mekong delta was the rowing boat ride. Overall, the day gave us a good glimpse of the life in the delta. The second day was dedicated to the tunnels. We were guided away from the crowds which is a huge advantage. Cu Chi tunnrls is a place to learn aboit the war (together with the war museum in Saigon).
Thank Maika tours for these two days!
Our family or two adults and three kids enjoyed our terrific guide named “Tan” for both our one day tours out of HCMC
Tan was a wealth of information and had a great sense of humour. He took the time to drop us to the airport when we needed to catch a plane after our tour. The company was easy to communicate with to book the tour and were on time etc. I highly recommend this company and especially our guide Tan, thanks for making our visit to Vietnam wonderful
I am a happy returning customer to Maika tours, the 2 times I have visited Saigon and Vietnam I have used them. This January we did a full day tour of cu chi tunnels and the Mekong delta due to time constraints. The positive things with Maika tours is smooth booking, on time pick-up, private car, good safe driver, excellent tour guide and they plan the trip so you don’t have to wait in line with other tourists. Our Gide was Long, excellent guide, English level and friendly!
Mr Giang organised an amazing day trip for our group in our own private coach & a very knowledgeable & witty guide! We arrived at Cai Be where we boarded our motorised boat to cruise along the river, stopping at a floating fruit boat to purchase local fruits. We were also served some delicious local fruits on the boat. We then stopped to see the local handicraft of local merchants preparing coconut candy & pop-rice – another wonderful experience We then changed to rowing boats to explore the secluded canals of the delta which was very interesting. We had a lovely lunch of Mekong delicacies at a family run restaurant. After lunch we headed back to our hotel in Saigon.
It was a memorable day & an amazing experience had by all in the group
Thank you to Mr Giang who did an amazing job organising this tour for us a reasonable price. He was easy to work with and very professional at all times.
We would highly recommend using Maika Tours to organise your tours if you are ever in Saigon!
Giang thank you so much for organising our Mekong Delta tour at such short notice. Our Airbnb host told us she would arrange, but at the last minute it became apparent that wasn’t going to happen.
We requested a public tour with Maika Tours at very short notice, this was booked up, but within minutes Giang was offering to help and arrange a private tour, this he did and in reality the cost difference wasn’t that huge.
Our guide was friendly, respectful and had an answer for all our questions, we cover a lot of area, ticked off all the things the tour briefly mentioned and then there was more, we met lots of locals, had local fruit and coconut drinks on the boat, all of which wasn’t mentioned, but a great bonus.
Tour activities and planned outings were exactly as described and exceeded our expectations, this tour was truly private also making it a very unique experience and highly worth paying for. Would recommend this to any travellers wishing to do a short trip the Mekong that includes all the main sites without having to rush.
I traveled to Vietnam by myself and scheduled a full day private tour of Ho Chi Minh City with Maika Tours. Nam was my travel guide and did a great job showing me around, hitting all the main sites, while also taking me to non-touristy parts so I could get a more authentic experience. Nam was very professional and did his best to make sure that I was enjoying the tour. I enjoyed the tour so much that I decided to do another full day motorbike tour from HCM to the Mekong Delta with Nam the following day. That was also a great experience. I got a chance to see the country side while we stopped periodically along the way to take pics. Although I was a little nervous at first since I had never rode on a motorbike before, I was able to relax and enjoy the ride once we got out of the HCM City limits. All in all, it was another great day and I would highly recommend both tours.
My husband and I booked the full day Mekong Delta tour. We ended up with a private tour as nobody else booked in. Our tour guide, Tan was knowledgable and funny. He shared a lot about the history and stories about Vietnam and the people who live along the Mekong. The car ride to Mekong was long (2hrs) but we had a clean, comfy and most importantly, air conditioned Toyota Innova to take us there.
The day’s activities were varied: from relaxing boat rides to bike rides to walking through villages on the islands to trying different tropical fruits before finishing up with a delicious lunch!
All in all, it was a great experience! The price wAs also very reasonable for a full day tour. Would highly recommend it to anyone:)
