Itinerary
Visit The Famous 24-Metre Tall Buddha!
We start our great day by heading to Long Son Pagoda, a beautiful temple located at the foot of Trai Thuy Mountain with a rich history of housing high-ranking Buddhist monks. In 1936, the Vietnam Buddhist Studies Foundation was founded here. Ornately decorated with dragons, mystical animals and Taoist gods, this beautiful temple is testament to Taoist architecture. If you’re feeling energetic, you can brave the 152 steps to reach the famous 24-metre tall white Buddha, which can be seen from any spot in the town.
Afterwards, we will visit a local family for an insight into the local way of life at Nha Trang. Learn how this family sustains themselves on Vietnamese mat weaving and uncover the techniques used in this ancient art form.
Learn How to Make Conical Hats with a Local
With all this incredible countryside surrounding us, it would be madness not to explore it! We will cruise through the countryside in our air-conditioned vehicle for breathtaking vistas of vibrant rice paddies, tropical foliage and surrounding mountains. You may even catch glimpses of local farmers at work in the fields!
Hidden deep in the countryside, we will visit an ancient house to get an insight into historical architecture and sample local fruits. We will also get the opportunity to witness the process of making conical hats!
Cruise Along the River
The next leg of our Nha Trang excursion is to the stunning river running through the area, Cai. Cruising along the river is an excellent way to escape the sometimes hectic city of Nha Trang and to witness the local way of life along the river banks. This 30-minute river journey is a fantastic way to get up close and personal to the untouched nature surrounding Nha Trang and to get another perspective of the city that is not the bustling seaside resort that tourists know and love!
Last Stop, Po Nagar Temple!
After we’ve taken all the pictures of rice paddies and stunning scenery our cameras can handle, we’ll make our way to Po Nagar temple, built by the architecturally adept Champa people. Built between the 8th and 13th centuries, this imposing temple has three floors, all built in brick and decorated in stone to worship the deities and depict Brahmin religious themes.
See What Our Guests are Saying
I now refer my friends, family and colleagues, as well as book all of my tours, accommodation and flights with Maika because I feel very lucky to have finally found an organisation in Asia that gives me the confidence to do so.
The tour was very well organized, and the guide spoke very good English. We got to see and experience so many things: Besides visiting a pagoda and Buddha statue, we also went on a boat ride (with a stop to enjoy a coconut drink) and visited local businesses producing rice paper, conical hats and mats. We had fresh fruit and tea for a snack and Pho soup for lunch which was delicious! We had such a good day and would highly recommend this tour!
We went on this tour, two families of four, with children aged 9-12 years old. We were really happy with it and highly recommend. Lin was our guide and she was fantastic, would really do a trip with her again. It was nice to do this privately and easy to adjust with Lin if needed. Maika helped us book the accommodation in Can Tho which we really appreciated. Would highly recommend and for sure do again.
You did a great job looking after all of our family of 7. The kids enjoyed all the tours and especially the Mekong cruise …as did we……because the kids were so happy we got to enjoy some time to ourselves too. I would recommend Maika Tours if your thinking of visiting Vietnam!
