Itinerary
Leaving behind the ancient capital, you will head to Phong Nha Ke Bang, a magical location also known as the “Cave Kingdom”. Along the way, you will see the DMZ (Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone), the area around the former border between northern and southern Vietnam.
You will see the historical site of the Vinh Moc tunnels. Unlike the Cu Chi which were used for combat, Vinh Moc Tunnels were bomb shelters predominantly for civilians. During bombing raids, village life carried on underground: children attended school, women gave birth, and families watched movies. The tunnels are an amazing achievement of human toil, engineering, and perseverance.
Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is the biggest square national park in Vietnam. It’s lovingly known as the “Cave Kingdom” as it is home to more than 300 caves. Two of the stars of the show are the Phong Nha and Paradise Caves, some of the world’s largest caves and must-see phenomena when in the park.
To visit the Phong Nha Cave, pass the Phong Nha tourist centre (just a few minutes walking) and take a boat along the Son River, a beautiful rural area where farmers collect a range of seaweeds. Phong Nha is one of the most beautiful caves in the world. It has an underground river system that stretches over approximately 8 kilometres and is housed in an exquisite cave formation.
The Paradise Cave is about 20 km away from the Phong Nha centre, which is about 30 minutes driving. Soak up the beautiful landscape as you make your way to this breathtaking locale. Dubbed an underground palace, this cave is one of the most magnificent wonders of our magical world here in Vietnam. The Paradise Cave is nestled deep in the World Natural Heritage National Park Phong Nha Ke Bang, having formed between 350 and 400 million years ago.
See What Our Guests are Saying
I now refer my friends, family and colleagues, as well as book all of my tours, accommodation and flights with Maika because I feel very lucky to have finally found an organisation in Asia that gives me the confidence to do so.
The tour was very well organized, and the guide spoke very good English. We got to see and experience so many things: Besides visiting a pagoda and Buddha statue, we also went on a boat ride (with a stop to enjoy a coconut drink) and visited local businesses producing rice paper, conical hats and mats. We had fresh fruit and tea for a snack and Pho soup for lunch which was delicious! We had such a good day and would highly recommend this tour!
We went on this tour, two families of four, with children aged 9-12 years old. We were really happy with it and highly recommend. Lin was our guide and she was fantastic, would really do a trip with her again. It was nice to do this privately and easy to adjust with Lin if needed. Maika helped us book the accommodation in Can Tho which we really appreciated. Would highly recommend and for sure do again.
You did a great job looking after all of our family of 7. The kids enjoyed all the tours and especially the Mekong cruise …as did we……because the kids were so happy we got to enjoy some time to ourselves too. I would recommend Maika Tours if your thinking of visiting Vietnam!
